Bolivia Project Teams - Overview
EWB Purdue has five teams that members can be on Leadership, Business, Water Quantity and Quality, Structures, Construction, and New Member Design Team. These teams work through the EPICS design process for our projects. All the teams work closely together to learn from what they are doing and give each other feedback so our teams can be as successful as possible. Each of our project teams have a design lead that manages that team and what they do. Twice a semester we have a design review where we share what we have been working on all semester and get feedback from our fellow members and professionals.
Bolivia Project - Overview
Located in Colquechata, Bolivia our water project started in Spring 2018, and we are currently in the conceptual design phase of the project. We have an estimated budget of upwards of 100,000 dollars and this is one of the biggest projects EWB-USA Purdue has taken on. The goals of this project are to implement a water distribution system in the community of Colquechata Alta to provide potable water and fulfill daily water needs of at least 50 liters/day/person for drinking and household use.
Assessment Trip 1: The goal of the first assessment trip was to collect sufficient data on the community for the design of a water distribution system. This data included geographical data on the land within and around Colquechata, information on the quality and quantity of the water produced at two different springs near the community, and information about the community’s structure and overall view and goals for the project. This trip was in May of 2017.
Assessment Trip 2: The goal of the second assessment trip was to collect more data needed to fully design the water distribution system as well as to continute building our relationship with the community members. This trip was in May of 2019.
The leadership team consists of our President, Vice President, Project Manager, and Treasurer. The leadership team oversees all of EWB-USA Purdue and makes sure our projects are running smoothly and our goals are being met.
Water Quality and Quantity
Responsible to develop/complete water quantity and quantity conceptual plan, including scenario planning, understand feasibility and cost.
Responsible to develop/complete structures conceptual plan, including scenario planning, understand feasibility and cost.
The purpose of the New Member Design Team is to introduce the members to some of the responsibilities members of EWB-USE Purdue have, but on a smaller scale. Additionally, the New Member Design Team introduces the students to the engineering design process, a process that will be utilized heavily throughout their time in EWB-USA Purdue. Currently, the New Member Design Team is working on a case study of a water distribution system done by another student chapter.
Business Development Team
Our business development team continuously works on fundraising, marketing, and media affiliated with EWB-USA Purdue. Our chapter is responsible for raising 95% of the funds for our projects. In order to do this we apply for grants, plan outreach events, coordinate crowdfunding campaigns and look for new ways to raise money. If you are interested in donating please visit the donate tab.
Media team is a sub team within the Business Development Team. They are in charge of spreading the word about EWB-USA Purdue. Media Team is constantly creating informational and promotional media to further club outreach, club member development, and fundraising efforts of the EWB Purdue Chapter.
