Leadership
The Leadership team is responsible for managing the chapter's members, projects, fundraising, and external relationships with entities like EWB-USA and Purdue.
Rwanda: Water
The Rwanda Water team focuses primarily on Hydraulic calculations, mapping pipeline routes in ArcGIS, and performing population estimates to ensure the system being implemented can provide for the community's water usage needs.
Rwanda: Structures
The Rwanda Structures team works primarily in AutoCAD to assist in structure design such as tanks, erosion control barriers, and tap stands. Additionally, the team works to help mark-up topographic maps and review drawings.
Rwanda: Operations
The Rwanda Operations team focuses on the materials required for a smooth implementation of the project, such as the Bill of Materials, Assessment Checklists, Pre and Post Trip Planning, and Operations & Maintenance Manuals.
Louisiana: Long-Term
The Louisiana Structures team is currently working with the tribe on several scalable solutions for their Community Center, while also designing a couple of smaller structures to be implemented on the tribe's property.
Louisiana: Short Term
The Louisiana Systems team works primarily to determine the inner workings of the Community Center Design, from HVAC to Electrical Loading. The Systems team also works with determining Community needs post-hurricane, and the storage necessary for these items.
Health
The Health team is working on a feasibility study investigating the use of composting toilets in the Louisiana community. The compost from those toilets would be used for non-agricultural purposes in a nearby plant nursery. The trees grown in that plant nursery would then be planted along the coastline to combat coastal erosion.
Fundraising: Grants
The Grants team is a critical part of our chapter's team. These students write grant applications to secure funding in order to make our designs a reality. Through technical writing skills and partner communication, the Grants team is able to paint a clear future of how our projects can provide real-world impact to our community partners.
Fundraising: Stewardship
The Stewardship team focuses on maintaining and strengthening our chapter's relationships with existing alumni, sponsors, and other chapter stakeholders. They also help to manage the chapter's presence online across platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram.
Fundraising: Corporate Outreach
The Corporate Outreach team works to maintain corporate sponsorships and seek out new corporate sponsorships in order to continue to fund the chapter's work.
Fundraising: Alumni Outreach
The Alumni & Individual Outreach team works to maintain alumni and individual donor relations in order to assist in continuing to fund the chapter's work.
Advisors
The Purdue Chapter of EWB operates within Purdue's Engineering Projects in Community Service, or EPICS, program. We are very grateful to have a team of several advisors and mentors through EPICS who help oversee our lab meetings and provide technical and professional advice to students. Additionally, we have two Responsible Engineers in Charge (REICs), who through EWB-USA and sign off on the engineering work that we perform before it is implemented.
