EWB-USA is a nonprofit organization created to support world-wide community driven partnerships to design and implement sustainable engineering projects. Engineers Without Borders at Purdue is a student chapter of EWB-USA. We were established in 2011 and since then we have had projects in Nakyeni, Uganda and Colquechata, Bolivia. Joining EWB Purdue means gaining experience in design, community partnership, teamwork, and leadership. and also a part of the EPICS program at Purdue. EWB-USA Purdue is also apart of the Purdue EPICS Program. EPICS, which stands for Engineering Projects in Community Service, is a service-learning design program in which teams of students partner with local and global stakeholders to address human, community, and environmental needs while also getting university credit.
The mission of Engineers Without Borders is to build a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs and equip leaders to solve the world’s most pressing challenges. In addition to this national mission, the Purdue chapter aims to develop project development skills in members.
